Dishwashers:
Dishwashers, in the eyes of most home makers, or mothers (in fact everybody who has ever had to clean after family meals) are the greatest invention since the wheel. This wonderful labour saving device is manufactured by all leading brands and available in Ireland at all appliance stores. Most Irish homes have a dishwasher fitted (a decade ago it was regarded as a luxury!) in their kitchen or utility room.
Most dishwashers come with push button controls or simple to use dials in the front. Dishwashers in general are accessible appliances, but sometimes you will want to do a little research on the reliability of such kitchen appliances before purchasing your dishwasher. Popular brands in Ireland include Zanussi, Beko, and Hotpoint
Dishwashers are usually at least 34" high and fit perfectly beneath a standard high counter. Unfortunately, standard kitchen appliances do not work for everybody. Somebody who may be altering an existing kitchen will have to compromise on location or model.
Despite the magic it performs in the kitchen, a dishwasher is actually quite simple; it is essentially a watertight box that sprays dishes with hot water and soap, drains out the dirty water, and then dries the dishes. Hot water is delivered through a supply hose that connects to a valve that controls the water's distribution to spinning spray arms.
A pump gets rid of the dirty water, and an electric heating element dries the dishes. All of this is operated by controls that may be very simple or quite complex depending on the specification and brand of the machine.
