Sinks made of enamelled cast iron are made of a solid cast iron and layered with an enamel surface. This has the disadvantage of making them extremely heavy and difficult to install. However, the upside is that that they are long lasting and are quieter than other sinks thanks to the dulling attributes of the enamel. Enamel sinks are expensive but are are resistant to almost any type of structural damage and have excellent heat retention.
